- To use the specific disks look for Double Density disks rated for 96TPI.
- It will work reliably with good quality standard Double Density disks
- rated at 48TPI. Do not use High Density disks. Although the TPI rating will
- be correct thecoating is slightly different and the SFD 1001 does not have
- enough current in the read/write head to write to them correctly.

- As I remember Maxell and a few other brands made the 96TPI Double Density
- disks. Look on the box for the rating.

- I ran a BBS for several years using 2 SFDs, an 8250, a 1571 and a 1581.
- I had the BBS program modules in the REU. Back in the days of 300, 1200
- and 2400 Baud it was an extremely fast BBS with a larger download area
- than most.
